We had been dog sick all week. It was finally time to get some stick-to-ya-ribs breakfast. So we decided to try The Toasted Yolk Cafe in Houston.

There’s also a bar, to our surprise! But it was too early to partake in the good stuff.

We were seated quickly. The majority of the staff had a great attitude.

But we’re here to talk about the food, right?

buscuit with sausage, bacon, onion gravy and scrambled eggs

I had the Cowboy Scramble. Big plate! I couldn’t even finish half of it.

Side note: All week my eatings were slim. Only soups, smoothies, and fruits. AKA a smaller stomach.

So now do you understand my pain?

Oh, this was our first time visiting (and it won’t be our last).

Maybe I should have ordered a bowl of oatmeal. idk. Me just being “big-eyed” I guess.

In Texas it’s GO BIG OR GO HOME.

This meal is definitely not for the weak.

Very tasty! Even the small side of fruit was good.

The grits? Not so much. I guess if I’d sprinkle salt and pepper to wake it up a bit, it would have been better. But meh. Maybe I’ll get some hashbrown casserole next time.

Next time you’re on the North side of Houston or in The Woodlands, check out this restaurant.
